Young Rider's Camp Camp dates for 2011 are - Session 1: July 11 to July 15. Session 2: July 18 to July 22. Session 3: August 8 to August 12. Session 4: August 15 to August 19. Please contasct the Foxwoode office for information on how to register.
Our program is designed to promote the education of riders, whether it is their first experience on horseback, or they are fine tuning their riding skills for competition. Riders between the ages of 5-17 are encouraged to attend. The cost includes your horse for the week, equipment, and only 5 riders per group. Each session allows 10 students, so spots will fill early. Riders will be placed in small groups with other riders sharing the same riding level and discipline. No group will have more than 5 riders. Each group lesson will be held for 1 hour. Hours for each clinic session are 9:30am to 3:30pm. The first day will begin with introductions to Foxwoode as well as horse assignments for the week. That is the special part of our clinic, you are able to ride the same horse for the entire session, allowing you to really get comfortable with grooming, handling and riding that horse. Confidence develops into skill, which produces a good riding foundation, and good Horsemanship! Each session will include the following daily activities; 2 group lessons per day, a ground lesson on basic horsemanship, (such as clipping, grooming, tack care, horse care safety, veterinary care, wrapping technique, bathing, etc.), and a classroom activity. Riders will have a lunch break each day where they can share their experiences with other riders as well as make new friends. The last day of each camp session will conclude with a team competition and knowledge bowl. Riders will be placed on teams and compete for prizes with competition both on and off the horse. Space will be limited to a first pay basis. To reserve your spot for 2011, please mail your registration and a $75 non-refundable deposit. Foxwoode Hunt Club reserves the right to cancel any session due to lack of participation, and will refund all monies if we cancel. Refunds less $25 administration fee will be given if rider must pull out of clinic due to extenuating circumstances.
